NetNews has discovered some interesting information on the death or disappearance of certain scientists recently. Since NetNews cannot find an established news story specifically on the topic, some of the information will be summarized here.

Within the last few months there has been the disappearance or death of certain U.S. and foreign scientists involved in biological research.

All of the experts specialized in infection diseases, DNA sequencing or biological weapons research.

For example, within the last day or two, two scientists involved in infectious disease work died under mysterious circumstances and one important infectious disease expert from Harvard disappeared while attending a conference in November. As the links below indicate, the FBI is involved in at least one of the cases.

Also, a cellular biologist at the Miami Medical school who worked on infectious diseases including HIV was found comatose outside his lab by Miami police on November 16, 2001. Police are calling Dr. Benito Que's case a mugging although there appeared to be no sign of trama.

Also, on Nov. 23, 2001, Dr. Vladimir Pasechnik, the administrative head of the old Soviet Biopreparat, a scientist who was responsible for aerosolizing plague and successful developer of binary weapons known as the Novichok group of weapons, was found dead in the UK where he lived since he defected from the Soviet Union in 1989. During his debriefing by western intelligence agencies, he revealed that Biopreparat was a major Soviet weapons facility involved in offensive biological weapons research, development and production of anthrax, plague and smallpox.

Dr. Pasechnik's death was revealed to the press by a UK intelligence agency which announced that he had died of a stroke. No autopsy was performed..

In addition, while NetNews cannot verify this, it has been claimed on certain websites that the plane flying from Israel to Russia which was accidentally shot down by the Ukranians soon after the 9/11 events was carrying Israeli scientists who were traveling to Russia's biological research center at Novosibirsk. It is also claimed that subsequently a Israeli Swissair Corsair crashed killing the head of the Ichilov Hospital's Hematology department, directors of the Hebrew University School of Medicine and members of the Tel Aviv Public Health Department.

Again, while there is no proof of this, some of the websites suggest these deaths and disappearances may not be coincidental and may be related to possible biological warfare research.

Some of the information is contained in the stories that follow:

The FBI is monitoring the investigation into the disappearance of a Harvard biologist because of his research into potentially lethal viruses including Ebola and his research involving immunity factors of viruses, bacterias and mycoplasmas. Dr. Don Wiley was last seen in Memphis, Tenn. where he was attending the annual meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. His rental car was found on Nov. 16, 2001 on a bridge over the Mississippi River with a full fuel tank and the key in the ignition.
